Citizens Advice Gateshead is an independent charity delivering advice services to the residents of Gateshead Borough, with a history spanning over 60 years. The charity is also part of a network of charities responsible for the delivery of the national Citizens Advice Adviceline service which provides advice and information by telephone and web chat to members of the general public from across England and Wales. Adviceline is an important element of the portfolio of services Citizens Advice Gateshead is delivering in pursuit of our mission to mobilise knowledge so the system works, it works for everyone, and it powers the changes we need to be an equal and inclusive society.
Our team of Adviceline Contact Centre Advisers provides tailored, succinct telephone advice to the general public to help people to know and understand their social welfare rights and responsibilities. The Contact Centre Adviser will be responsible for drawing on their knowledge of social welfare rights and responsibilities, including utilising a wide range of support information and resources to offer impartial advice by telephone and webchat.
If you have proven experience of providing advice and guidance which has enabled someone to take corrective action, and you can gather key information through the use of effective questioning techniques, as well as the ability to learn and apply new and detailed information under pressure, this could be the job for you.
Homeworking will be required to comply with current social distancing requirements
Comprehensive in-house training in social welfare rights and responsibilities will be provided

£18,038.00 per annum (FTE 37 hours/week)
37 or 20 hours per week
22 days plus bank holidays (pro rata for 20 hour positions), increasing after 2 years' service
