Citizens Advice Gateshead is an independent charity delivering advice services to the residents of Gateshead Borough, with a history spanning over 60 years. The charity is also part of a network of charities responsible for the delivery of the national Citizens Advice Adviceline service which provides advice and information by telephone and web chat to members of the general public from across England and Wales. Adviceline is an important element of the portfolio of services Citizens Advice Gateshead is delivering in pursuit of our mission to mobilise knowledge so the system works, it works for everyone, and it powers the changes we need to be an equal and inclusive society.
Our Money Advice and Pensions Service (MaPS) are a specialist team working as part of our legal and regulated services, based at the Davidson Building but currently working remotely.
The Money Advice Caseworker will provide advice and casework assistance on money advice and all related social welfare advice issues. The role will involve ensuring that our clients receive impartial advice, information and casework on a multi-channel basis (face-to-face, phone, web chat).
You will have experience of providing specialised money and debt advice within the past 12 months, fully understanding the issues and barriers involved in interviewing clients, and can provide advice on a full range of debt options. You will also be an ordered worker, familiar with following the processes and procedures used when giving advice and can evidence being able to communicate complex ideas through a variety of channels. You may also have DRO intermediary status and knowledge of welfare benefit issues.
