Service Development Manager (Social Welfare)

To enable us to continue to make progress towards this ambitious vision, one of the key priorities set out in our strategic plan is to help people to know and understand their social welfare rights and responsibilities so they can improve their quality of life. Access to impartial, quality advice and information is recognised as being as critical to eradicating inequality; we are already making a serious impact in this arena, however there is so much more to do.

To build on our success to date, and help us to broaden and deepen our impact on people's lives, we are now recruiting for the new position of Service Development Manager.

As a member of our Advice Services Management team, reporting to the Service Delivery Director, the ultimate post holder will be responsible for evaluating whether our services respond to the ever-changing challenges being faced by our clients and, where they don’t, will take steps to drive positive change in the way that services are being delivered and commissioned.

The Service Development Manager will also lead on proof of concept projects which fall outside of our mainstream advice services, and where appropriate support us to embed them as ‘business as usual’. Another key priority of this new role will be to enable us to effectively appraise both the qualitative and quantitative impact of our services on people’s lives to provide robust evidence both of the value of our services but also build the case for further investment.

Our ideal candidate will have a thorough and detailed working knowledge of the social welfare sector, together with experience of highly effective project design and mobilisation, service development and process improvement. They will also have grown and maintained productive and collaborative relationships with partners and stakeholders, and be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to our social values.

Salary £28,750.45 - £31,616.84 per annum
Holidays 22 days (rising to 25 after three years of service) plus Bank Holidays
Hours 37 hours per week
