Volunteering at the charity takes a step forward with Andrea White
Andrea White has recently joined the team at Citizens Advice Gateshead to lead a refreshed volunteering programme that will see over 100 volunteers recruited this year to help the charity to respond to the surge in demand for support from Gateshead residents.
Andrea and the 'People team', led by People Development Manager Garry Besford have already recruited over 20 new volunteers for their 'Volunteer Forward' programme since January, and are now on the look out for more people to fulfil a wide range of volunteering roles with the charity. Andrea has joined us having spent almost two decades working on customer service and management roles, and having been made redundant she turned herself to volunteering to reskill and look for a new way forward. Through leading our 'Volunteer Forward' programme Andrea is hoping to encourage other people to do the same.
"We're looking for people who want to volunteer for a whole range of different reasons. From retired professionals who are ready to give something back, people who are looking for a new direction through gaining new skills to help them find a job, students and young people who want to gain some experience whilst making a difference, and everyone in between. Volunteering requires you to give a lot of yourself, but through Volunteer Forward we can make sure that people are able to make progress towards whatever their goal is, recognising that everyone's looking for something different."
We're running regular information webinars online, so I'd recommend anyone who's thinking about getting involved in volunteering to book a place. It's a fun, informal session that provides the opportunity for people to meet some of our volunteers, find out about the types of volunteering opportunities we have available, and get a proper idea of what it would mean to become part of our volunteer community.
