We are delighted to announce that Citizens Advice Gateshead was awarded 2022 North East Charity of the Year, at the North East Charity Awards.
The North East Charity Awards, which are organised by The Journal and their sister paper on Teesside, celebrate the best of the region’s voluntary sector. The other nominees for the prize were the Great North Air Ambulance, the Hospital of God at Greatham and Oasis Community Housing.
Alison Dunn, Chief Executive Officer said at the event "It’s been an incredibly difficult few years. We’ve been at the heart of the pandemic and now we’re facing cost of living crisis. This is fantastic. To have that work recognised and to be able to say to our staff all of what they’ve done, all of those sacrifices they’ve made, have been recognised is hugely rewarding. I’m absolutely delighted.”
Barry Taylor, Chair of Trustees added "Our charity goes from strength to strength and I see these awards, which will significantly raise our profile across the North East and beyond as a key stepping stone towards helping us achieve our ambitious plans, to further extend our reach and support for the many people locally, regionally and nationally who need our help, and our vision of a fair society for all with lives well lived."
Our social enterprise, Society Matters cic was also Highly Commended in the Outstanding Social Enterprise category, making it a bumper night for the charity.
