How volunteering has helped Alex make a valuable contribution to the lives of other people

Meet Alex, having recently completed the Adviser Learning training Alex is making his mark as an Adviceline volunteer in our Contact Centre.

I volunteer at Citizens Advice Gateshead because my commitment is valued by everyone at the organisation, and I am given the opportunity to challenge myself and develop new skills. Given the current world circumstances, I believe there is no better time to actively get involved and offer help and support to those that have been affected by the pandemic. In addition to this, I admire the work and services the Citizens Advice provides. It’s imperative that those who are unable to afford advice, or have no way of accessing it, should be given the opportunity to receive it. There should be no barrier to receiving help when it is needed most, and has led me to believe the Citizens Advice is an organisation I wish to be associated with.

The experiences I've had as a volunteer have improved my problem solving and communication abilities while also allowing me to make a valuable contribution to the lives of other people.
