Dan started volunteering with Citizens Advice Gateshead in July 2018, and after three months of training he has became a volunteer adviser and receptionist, now for nearly a year. After completing a degree in forensic psychology, Dan supplements his time working in the hospitality trade with volunteering.
A friend volunteered with us previously, and introduced Dan to the idea of giving some of his time to become an adviser.
Dan was looking for a way to bolster the experience he has on his CV and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. He says that he always has something to say at interviews, and has been invited to more interviews since volunteering with us than before.
However, the real value Dan sees in his volunteering is being able to give something back to his community. Born in Gateshead, Dan says that the best part of volunteering is when you make a difference to the life of a client. Its a great feeling.
Dan intends to continue volunteering with Citizens Advice Gateshead as he looks to start his career in criminal research.
